Picture Inspired

I had seen a picture in a store and loved the way it was mounted in layers in the frame.  I couldn't wait to get home to give it a try and this is what I came up with.

First I needed a center point, Fleur de Lis to the rescue.  Then using the Spellbinder Nestabilities Label Five I cut out three layers.  The layers that I cut out I saved and used on the inside of the card.

Then I had problems with the bottom of the card.  I loved the top and got stuck on the bottom.  Then I thought if I had the right lace it might work.  So I used a strip of the paper that I had used for the top cut outs and after it was punched I ran it through the crimper twice to break up the fibers and make it more pliable.  Sticky strip was used to adhere the paper lace to the bottom and topped it off with a satin ribbon.

Hope you enjoy!

TST # 55

Are you ready?  Come on join in on this weeks challenge over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

This one was really fun to do.  Started off with an embossed background and then stepped up using dimensionals two Spellbinder frames.

Using Fabulous Florets I stamped out the image of the two flowers three times and then cut out each pedal and sculpted it to form the flower.  For the stamens I used a piece of the plain CS and cut a three small circles for the large flower and two small circles for the small flower.  Then fringed the circle and ran it over the Night as Navy ink pad.  Scrunched it up and glued it in place.  This gave the flower a true 3D effect. Stamped three single leaves and filled them in with Old Olive and a blender pen.

Topped it off with a grosgrain ribbon.

Now it's your turn, come on let's see what you can do!

Hope you enjoy!

Masculine Monday 27/2/2012

Time for this weeks Masculine Monday card.  This week used my Sense of Time stamp set as the inspiration and before I knew it I had forgotten to use the Sense of Time stamp set.

I started with the Sizzix Clock Die and stamped the clock portion with the musical notes stamp set and added a pendulum on the bottom using the Word Window Punch.  The sentiment is from Elements of Style.

Hope you enjoy!

You Complete Me!

This card was inspired by my Mother.  She was a very smart woman and always told me that when you meet the right guy it would be like putting the last piece on a puzzle and I would feel complete.

35 years ago today I married my best friend.  We had one date and he asked me to marry him!  There was something about him that made me feel complete, so of course I said yes.  But at the same time I didn't think he was serious...until he purchased a ring to seal the deal.

When I purchased the Sizzix Puzzle die on clearance I knew exactly what I would use it for.

The puzzle piece necklace was given to me by my Husband at Christmas time.  On one side it says Love... on the other side it reads Completes Me!  So appropriate.

It doesn't seem like 35 years but it has been the best 35 years anyone could share with that someone special.

Happy Anniversary Peter!

Hope you enjoy!

Pink Birthday Wishes

Going through my emails today I came across a Challenge over at
Joan's Garden Challenge #7.  The Challenge had a few must haves in it:

Create a card with lots of layers
Colour theme should be Pink and White
Add some dimensional flowers
Use a rectangle and an oval layer

This is what I came up with.  Although the flowers show as purple they actually are more pink but photographed differently.

I'm sure either way the lucky person this Birthday Card is going to will not even know the difference.

Happy Birthday!

Hope you enjoy!

Accenting Your Bow with Pins and Beads

Last week I posted a card made for my Brother and SIL.

I have had a couple of requests both on line and in person asking how I attached the pin to the bow.

So I have made this card to show you the process.

Once the card base was made I constructed my bow leaving long ties to be able to wrap around the card front.  I also gathered everything that I would need for the bow embellishment.  This would include the pins (from the Dollar Store) and a variety of bead in different sizes and shapes.  You can use whatever you prefer with the beads.

Next I adhered the bow to the card front using snail.

Then I arranged the beads on two pins.  These pins are smaller than hat pins so two are used.

For the pin on the top of the bow I used one large bead and a smaller bead then using Tombo Multi Glue I placed a small dab on the end of the pin and then inserted it into the topside of the bow.

Then place the beads on the second pin in any order and add a dab of Tombo Multi Glue again to the end of the pin and insert it into the the bottom of the bow.  Tombo glue is very strong and I don't have any problems with it coming loose once it is inserted into the bow.

The final embellishment that I placed was a small bead that was in the shape of a leaf.  Because of the way the hole was in the bead I decided to use wire to adhere it to the bow.

I cut a small piece of wire and inserted it through the bead and then wrapped it around the bow centre and twisted it in the back of the bow.  This was a bit of a struggle because the bow was already on the card but with a little work it worked.

The end result is a very pretty bow embellished with a bead pin.  This in my opinion gives a nice vintage appearance to any card.

Now it's your turn.  Give it a try and show me what you come up with.

Hope you enjoy!

Life is a Matter of Moments

Nestabilities Fleur de Lis makes a comeback with this layered card.
Fleur de Lis is a square die but two bases were die cut and staggered on top of each other.  Then the second layer was done the same way.
A simple ribbon was added underneath and accented on top with Lots of Tags stamped with Elements of Style and tagged off with more Fleur de Lis'.
Hope you enjoy!

PS:  have you seen a pattern in the last few cards using Elements of Style, I think I have an attachment to it!

TST #54 Gerber Daisy

This week at Try Sampin on Tuesday I decided to take the sketch challenge and make a happy spring card using Daisies #2 die from Stampin Up.

The strips behind the flower are done using Old Olive cardstock and are stamped using the French Foliage stamp set, punched on the edge using a Lace Scalloped Edge Punch then run through a crimper. Behind the flower is accented with a decorative flourish.  I decided not to put a sentiment on the card until I am ready to use it.

Now it is your turn.  Stop by and show us what you can do!

Hope you enjoy!

Masculine Monday 20/2/2012

The title for this Mondays card is not my idea, but one that I saw from Francis Martin or "Frenchie".  So thanks Frenchie for challenging me to come up with Masculine cards on a weekly basis.

So often it is difficult to come up with masculine cards and when I saw her Masculine Monday card last week I thought, great idea and so now every Monday I will post a card with a Masculine Flare to it.

Today's card actually started out without an idea in mind.  Then after I had made the card I saw a challenge and thought OMG my card is almost like the sketch, but when I went to post it to the site I noticed that there was a card there already with the same principle to it so thought good idea just too late.

Lovely as a Tree is one of my favourite stamp sets and I use it a lot for masculine cards.

Hope you stop back each Monday for a new Masculine Card to add to your collection.

Hope you enjoy!

If You Want to Be Happy, Be!

This card originally started out as a card for my Brother and his new Wife, but then I changed my mind when I found a saying that was more appropriate for the occasion.

I started with a plain piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped it with the French Script background stamp.  Then using Elements of Style of stamped the flowers twice. Then I sponged the edges of the card and flowers to give it a more weathered look.

My new found love of the Spellbinders Nestabilities encouraged me to use two different sizes to create the sentiment focus and then finished it all off with a bow and hat pin.

The card that I did end up giving them was made at the last minute as we were going out the door.  In fact I almost forgot to photograph it.

Still using the purple tones I die cut one of the Labels Five in Whisper White and used the Muscial Notes stamp to stamp over it.  Then using the Labels Five in a smaller size I die cut a hole in the oiginal one on a diagonal and stamped the inside with All Around Quotes.  I used the portion that was die cut out and turned it over and used it inside the card with the unstamped side out.  Finished the card off with a hat pin and bow.

Hope you enjoy!

Mr. Vroom Vroom & His Pals to the Rescue

Meet Mr. Vroom Vroom.  He is a Diaper Bike and another of my projects for Stampin Fun and Friends.

The most obvious diaper creations these days are tiered cakes, but both my son and his wife are avid motorcyclists and join in on lots of Charity Rides.  For this reason, plus I was certain they were having a Boy, I decided to make a motorbike cake.

Along with Mr. Vroom Vroom his friends are stopping by to help the new Mom and Dad with "Baby Sitter Rescue Coupons".  These coupons are to be used in exchange for Baby Sitting services, as if they really need to ask!  But if funds are tight for a baby shower gift it makes a great idea and everyone is happy!

So if I haven't convinced you yet to join in on the fun over at Stampin Fun and Friends you need to check out a few of the other designers blots to see what they have come up with.

Hope you enjoy!

May All Your WISHES come True!

So I have another co-workers Birthday coming up.  This particular person is not a frilly or over the top kind of gal so I decided to go with something plain yet a little fancy.  The flower is made from a combination of Fun Flowers Die and Daisies #2 die.  The stem of the flower is stamped omitting the smaller wording and using them as the leaves.

I know she will be pleased.

Hope you enjoy!

TST # 53 A Masculine Card

Today being Valentines Day You would think that I would use it as my inspiration for the Try Stampin on Tuesday Sketch Challenge.  However masculine cards are sometimes difficult to achieve so I decided to take the sketch challenge and make it into a masculine card.

Turning the sketch and making it a landscape card I used Sense of Time which is now a discontinued stamp set from Stampin Up, but it was one of my first sets and I really like using it for masculine cards.

Hope you enjoy!

Getting Organized

Before Oraganizations Began

If you haven't joined in on the fun over at Stampin Fun and Friends you're missing the great projects and tutorials along with the friendly chats this past two weeks.  One of my tutorials was this one, which believe me the picture of my office desk before I started is accurate.    Included in the projects were a Desk Pad, Storage Box, Note Pad Holder and a Binder to keep project designs or bills in.  If you like what you see here consider joining in next time.

After Organization

Believe it or not I have also been able to keep my office working space clean and organized since coming up with these projects.

Martha Stewart eat your heart out!

Hope you enjoy...see you at the next Stampin Fun and Friends get together!

Colour Challenge at Stampin Fun and Friends

Stampin Fun and Friends has offered another challenge.  This time it is a colour challenge.  The colours offered I did not have on hand so I had to improvise and used as close to the ones that were in the challenge.

http://api.ning.com/files/g5daTo6THGMExGzJ*sBT*DC3xDC*cKrf1nt8KeuPMETNf7dyoVGMGxJI5pTTie8wjICKDOFbj9PygU7rRowO46f5wqycacmq/ColorSFF001.jpg

To add a little dimension to the hearts I stamped over the cardstock used with the same colours using the I (Heart) Hearts stamp set and then sponged the edges.  The largest heart was free cut and stamped with a musical notes stamp.

When the card is opened the hearts are free floating on the front and then show across the entire card.

Hope you enjoy!

Any Occasion with Fleur de Lis

This is a rather simple card but with big effects.

The background is a simple piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The Fleur de Lis' were die cut and emobossed using the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis die in Baby Blue and lifted off the Postage Stamp Punch out of Whisper White again using Dimensionals.

The side strip follows the diamond portion from the right side and is punched on both sides using the Diamond Border Punch and accented with a white bow.

This card could be used for just about any occasion and therefore I have left the sentiment blank until I need just the right card for the occasion.

Hope you enjoy!

Fleur de Lis Aujourd'hui

Yes I studied French in High School but over the years it has become  a little rusty, this is about as french as I can be these days.

Here is a little card made with the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis die.  This is my first time working with Spellbinders and I don't think it will be my last.  I studied this particular die before I purchased it to see what I might be able to achieve with it.  So I'm sure you will be seeing a lot of it in my work in the future.

There are several, 5 to be exact, layers to this card if you look really hard you will be able to count them.

Merci!

SFF Remake Wine and Chocolate

I hope that you have taken the time to visit us over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  Here is another of our projects done my way.

This is a remake of one done by Tanya Bell.  Her's included a little different kind of sweet, but we enjoy chocolate with our wine so I incorporated that into my project.

This would make a great hostess gift at your next get together.

Cheers!

Paradise Found

The inspiration for this  card came from Ilina Crouse who had made a series of cards using the Two Step Bird Punch to create the Bird of Paradise flower.  It uses 3 of the bird body and 5 of the bird wings.
Hope you enjoy!
