Love Neutrally!

I am a little behind the clock with my Valentines cards this year.  I have made a couple of very special ones for the Stampin Fun and Friends Session which starts on February 1, but can't reveal them until later, so make sure that you keep your eyes open for some very special cards in the weeks to come.

For now I have been playing around with some simple neutral colours.  I have a couple of cards that need to go to males so they can't be too fancy.
This card was inspired by the one over at Less is More as well as the Colour Challenge at Dynamic Duoes.  There are so many great cards over there.
This is actually a flat card, with no dimensionals used, but I shaded under the hearts to make it look like they were floating on the page.  Then I added a simple butchers twine knot.

I hope you like what I have come up with.

Same DSP...Two Different Outcomes!

I have had a little more time these days to play with my stamps so I hope that over the next few weeks I will be able to share more cards with you.

First I started with my sketch over at Try Stampin on Tuesday for the Sketch 103 challenge. Then with the paper that I have left over from that sketch I decided to play around with another option for the same papers.

This was the card for my Try Stampin Challenge.
This was my scraps creation.
By using the scraps from the first card in a different colour scheme it gave a totally different look to both the colours and appearance of the card.

I hope that you like what I have done with the same papers, but differently.  Don't forget to check out the Try Stampin site and see the other great cards.  Or just give what I have done a try.  Use the same papers, but make a totally different card.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #103 ...just because

It's Tuesday once again, and Jen has come up with another great sketch over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I know I did not follow the sketch completly but I wanted to change it up a little.  That is the joy of picking a sketch and running with what your gut thinks.

I started with my DSP which was from My Mind's Eye, Everyday Tango.  The colours are a little harder to match up with regular cardstock, but I managed to find a light blue one that coordinated quite well with the DSP.  It is difficult to see from the colours in the picture but the DSP matched very well with Dusty Durango so I used that to stamp out the shells on the blue CS.  I added two small strips of blue again over the DSP and then using regular bakers twine I ran it over Marina Mist and the Dusty Durango to dirty it up and coordinate with the card colours.
Once I stamped out the shells I trimmed them up and using a rounded stylis I shaped the shells to give them more dimension.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Now hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other Designers have in store for you.  Got enough inspiration?  Give the sketch a try and upload it so that we all can see your creation.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thinking of You

Over the past year and a half I have joined CherylAnn Robinson's cast for the Try Stampin on Tuesday Designers as well as her Stampin Fun and Friends Sessions as a Designer.  We have learned over time that we both have very, very much in common and could possibly be each others twin.

CherylAnn has had a few speed bumps over the past month, but she is still smiling.  However this past weekend I think the biggest speed bump hit her when her Mom passed away.  This will be a hard time for her, but for anyone that knows CherylAnn she is a surviver and we are all "Thinking of You".

Once I had completed the card I was searching through my favourite sites and came across the sketch at  Less is More.  Little did I know that the sketch was exactly what I had just done so I decided to add it to their gallery as well.

All our love to CherylAnn and your family in this time of need, no matter where we are.

TST #102 Butterfly Miles Away

It's Tuesday again and I am away from my regular crafting desk, but still able to take part in another great sketch by Jen over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.
So while I am away one of my co-workers is having a Birthday and I would never forget any of my girls birthdays, so I am using this sketch to celebrate with her even though I am butterfly miles away!

I have pulled another page from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found DSP (ouch!) but I am just loving this DSP.  The banner was preprinted so I took advantage of that.  Then I cut another piece for the overlay on the card front.  Using the MS Circle Cutter I cut a 2 1/2" circle and stamped French Script over it.  Once I had assembled the card base pieces I ran them through the Cuttlebug using the Perfect Polkadots Embossing Folder.

I cut three sets of butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Sizzlet and use two of the sets to lift the third butterfly to make it appear to be flying off the page.  Then I layered more butterflies on top of that.  The banner from the front of the card was long enough that I was able to wrap it around to the inside of the card and again accent the inside of the card with butterflies.
I hope that you like what I have come up with.  I am certain that my co-worker with love it and be surprised that even though I am so far away on her happy day I had time to spare to make her a special card.  Happy Birthday Janet!

Now it's your turn.  What inspires you?  Need a little more inspiration.  Join us over at the Try Stampin site and see what the other Great Designers have in store for you.  Once you have been inspired don't forget to share your work with us.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #101

It's Tuesday again.  Time for another sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday.
I bought some really great DSP from My Mind's Eye called Lost & Found.  I loved this paper so much I hated to cut into it, but then again if you don't use it it just isn't worth buying.  So here is what I came up with from one of the sheets.
Instead of going with the smaller piece of paper under the rectangle I decided to use the piece that looked like what I thought was a racetrack.  Hmmm, racetrack!  I don't have a car but I did have a bike so that is what I decided on for my image.
Then rather than put a bow on the front, which I now thought looked like a masculine card I decided to use 1/8" ribbon and put a simple embellishment of ribbon with a small brad.  The brad was then mimicked at the side of the card as well.

I hope that you like what I have come up with.  Now it's your turn.  Not too sure what to do yourself for this sketch, then hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other Great Designers have in store for you.

Thanks for dropping by.

TST #100 A Very Special Birthday

Wow can you believe that we are now at 100 for our sketches at Try Stampin On Tuesday..  Seems like just yesterday that we started this great challenge site.

Today is not only our 100th challenge, so I am incorporating it with a very special Birthday card.  This one is for my Grandson Edwin who will be turning 1 on January 15.  We will be having his Birthday Party on Sunday and looking forward to all the mess with the cake, but then that is why we will also be having the bathtub ready!!
Using the I Dig You stamp set I stamped onto the cardstock and then cut out each piece.  I reversed the way the stamp set actually  stamps out and added little brads which make the arms of the shovel actually move. In keeping with the same set being reversed I decided to reverse the layout of the card and have the added embellishment on the left instead of the right.
Then using the SU Cog Punch I punched out one of the larger cogs and two of the smaller cogs to highlight the "happy 1st dirtday".
Edwin loves his trucks and it was only fitting to use this stamp set, not to mention that he received a ride on tractor from his other Grandma and Grandpa.  Have a Great 1st Birthday Little Man!!!

Hope you like what I have come up with, now it's your turn.  Need a little more inspiration, hop on over to the Try Stampin website and see what the other Designers have in store for you.  Once you have completed your card don't forget to post it for all of us to see.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST # 99

My oh my where does the time go.  Can you believe that we are at #99 for our sketch challenges at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I hope that everyone had a Very Merry Christmas and you are looking forward to the New Year.  I know we had a great Christmas here with our new Grandson opening up lots of presents, mainly for him.  As usual though the paper and boxes were more impressive than the gift at that age.
This week I needed a Birthday card for a co-worker so that is what I decided to do for the sketch.

When I first saw this sketch I had so many ideas in my head, but then when I started I was stuck because of the colour combination that I had picked.  You see the person this card is for is a girly-girl and I wanted it to be soft and "girly" looking.  However I didn't quite have the right shade of pink to go with the DSP that I had chosen so I had to compromise and combine red and pink together to get my balance.
Instead of a bow I went with a pin/bead embellishment and then accented the smaller circle with pearls which also mimicked the pearls on either end of the pin.
The colours did not show up as nicely as they are in living colour but I was none the less happy with the final outcome.

As a final note for today I would like to wish everyone the best for a Safe and Happy New Year!

Thanks for stopping by during this hectic time of year.
