Baby?...

Today I have a card for you that I have put together for a co-worker.  She asked me to make a card for someone who not only made her daughters wedding invitations, but someone who also is an avid scrapbooker.  I had to think long and hard on this one, because it is sometimes hard to please someone who is also a talented individual.

The card I made could actually be placed into her scrapbooking for this New Bundle of Joy as an embellishment.
Not knowing what they are having I wanted to keep the card neutral, so green and yellow couldn't be any more neutral for a baby.
Using my Cricut I cut out the letters and then ran the "B" through my Cuttlebug using the Swirls Embossing folder.  The smaller letters were cut out from the Cricut as well and then mounted onto DSP punched with the Postage Stamp Punch and then onto a 1 1/4" square of CS.

I finished off the card by mounting the DSP onto white CS and then using dimensionals I mounted the "B" and the other letters.  A small ribbon and button were added to complete the card.

I did forget to take a photo of the inside of the card, but the verse that I used was as follows:

Twinkle, Twinkle tiny light,
Little eyes that shine so bright,
A precious baby from heaven above,
Fills our hearts with so much Love!

I do hope that not only you but the Mom to be likes what I have come up with.

TST #124 Seawall Inspiration

Life has been so busy this past week I just can't seem to find time for myself.  That dreaded four letter word "WORK" keeps getting in the way, but I have to support my addiction to card making!

This week at Try Stampin on Tuesday, our sketch lends itself to so many ideas.
I decided to turn the sketch and make a landscape card in a Clean and Simple form.
While we were in Florida we had the opportunity to collect these seashells just off the seawall from my Brother's place.  Each morning there were several that had washed up and were empty. The one in the picture was one of the smaller ones.  A little bit of scrubbing and they cleaned up well.

These days I find the hardest thing is picking my colour combinations.  Here I have used Pacific Point and Old Olive along with Soft Suede.

I started by creating a mask using Post-its to make my centre piece.  I then sponged in my green and blue.  Once again using the Post-its I masked for my lines.  Opps, forgot to block off my centre masked area so I accidentally spritzed over the area.  Hopefully this will give the illusion of sand.  Works for me anyway!  Then I stamped my shell and freehand I used my marker to finish off the border.

I know in the sketch there is further embellishment in the corners, but when I tried to place something there it just became too cluttered looking so decided to go without.

Hope you like what I have come up with.  Now it's your turn.  Need more inspiration, then hop on over to the Try Stampin on Tuesday site to see what the other Great Designers have in store for you.  Don't forget to post your creations so that we can all see what you have come up with.

...Thanks!

We all have someone very special in our lives.  My someone Very Special is my Best Friend and Husband of 36+ years!  He is definitely my Rock and knows just what to say and when to say it to make me feel very special.

We have gone through some stressed times over the past year with caring for my Father, as a lot of you have read in my blog.  I love Dad, but my Husband will be the one standing beside me in the end and his support is ever so special to me.

Today's card is for my Dear Hubby.  I have taken the sketch from Case This Sketch for my inspiration.
This is a very clean and simple sketch I was able to use up scraps from my stash.  Kind of like cleaning up loose ends.
Using the watermarks from French Foliage I stamped in Old Olive and Tangerine Tango.  Then with the Beautiful Wings Sizzlet I cut out three of the smaller butterflies.  Edged the DSP with the Old Olive to give it a little more punch.

For the inside I used the sentiment from Rue Des Fleurs and combined the two.

Thanks for being there.  Love you with All My Heart!  Ace!

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #123 This way to Fun!

Another slow week for me.  Things are gradually getting back to normal...if there is such a thing called normal...but there is still a long way to go in helping my Father.

That was my inspiration for this weeks card for Try Stampin on Tuesday.  I am always my happiest when I am away at the beach with my husband, alone, so that we have time for each other and no thoughts of anything else.
I was going to make this card as a shadow box card, but decided to go with a Clean & Simple style.
Using the Labels 13 I created a mask for the card front.
The stamp set I used had a variety of seashells.  I stamped out three of the larger shells and cut them out.

Ah the days of sun, sand and sea, and a large glass of wine in hand.  I can and feel the pleasures now.

So what is your take on the sketch.  Need more inspiration, hop on over to the Try Stampin site to see what the other great Designers have in store for you.  Don't forget to post your creation for all to see.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just for Dad

A belated Happy Father's Day to all those supportive Dad's out there.

We were fortunately enough to be able to bring Dad to our home for Father's Day and have a BBQ with the kids and his Great Grandson.

With Dad now at the Waterford, a Retirement Community with three levels of specialized care our worries have been definitely reduced.  There is always someone around and he has met some great new friends.  When he was living in his own home he was being left alone for long periods of time and living in the country there were few people around to talk to so this new level of socialization has been great for him.

I don't have a card today, instead a have a wreath that my husband and I made for Dad.  Everyone has something on their doors to indicate that it is their room.  If they can't remember the room number at least they remember the wreath or door embellishment.

Dad being and old salt of the sea guy we thought it only fitting to make his wreath a nautical themed one.

The flags spell out his nickname in nautical terms  The anchor is a cookie cutter that I found at Michael's

Love you Dad, Enjoy!

TST #122 Celebration of Life...

Last week was a busy one for me and I didn't get to stamp at all.  You see I had my Dad living with me and trying to help him through the transition from his own home to a Retirement home. He did great with us.  We were able to bring his blood sugars into line and he was getting exercise and healthy meals.  Now he has moved into a Retirement facility just minutes from us. This facility is the best of the best.  My take on the place is that it is a Cruise Ship that never leaves port!    We weren't too sure how he was going to receive it all, but to our amazement we went last night, his first day there, and he was so excited.  He even told us that he would not even think about leaving!  Big sigh of relief for us, and now we know that he is safe and going to be looked after in the manner that he should be.

Now back to business.

Today at Try Stampin on Tuesday we have another great sketch challenge for you.
I decided to make my Dad's new surroundings a Celebration of Life.  With Lovely As a Tree I used the tall evergreen to represent my Dad.  Trees take so long to grow and mature and at 87 years, he has definitely grown!  Then rather than using the black around the entire piece to accent it I used two small strips.  These strips represent my Brother and I.  We are the ones that are here to look after him.
The sentiment was one from Cloud 9 Design called Simple Thoughts - Happy Birthday.  Even though it is an overall birthday stamp set I though that the sentiment was perfect for my Dad.
I finished off the inside of the card with the pine tree again stamped just to the bottom off the card.

Dad you mean so much to us and we are all so glad you are happy with your new surroundings.  See you soon...

Now it's time for you to show us what you can do with the sketch.  Do you have a special person that you would like to celebrate?  Need more inspiration?  Hop on over to TSOT blog and check out the other great Designers.

Thanks for stopping by today.

TST #121 Open Sea Father's Day

Welcome again to another Tuesday and time again for a great sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday.
Today I have a Father's Day card for you.
Using the Open Sea DSP I started by majorly distressing the edges and then layered each piece on top of each other and also allowing the DSP to come through the circle to the front layer.
The card was finished off with an anchor embellishment and the Happy Fathers Day from the Plane and Simple stamp set.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Now it's your turn.  Need more inspiration hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other Great Designers have in store for you.  Don't forget to link up your creation for all of us to see.
