TST #133 Better late...

.....than never!

Yes folks things have been so crazy around here I just have had to put stamping on the back burner.  I had sent notification through that I would not be able to take part in this weeks sketch challenge for Try Stampin on Tuesday, and this morning I had literally 5 minutes to play so I did.
This is the great sketch that we had to work with this week.
This card used very little DSP.  I cut out a piece of DSP that was 1/8" smaller than the 4.25"x5.5" card base and then I cut a piece of the same card base that was 1/8" smaller again.  Using my DSP I cut out the centre section to 3"x3 3/4".  Once I had the centre section cut out using one of my swirls dies I die cut the centre of that.  I didn't leave anything out because the piece that I cut out I used on the inside as embellishment.

Then I added the two buttons with the twine running through them.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Check out the other Great Designers over at Try Stampin on Tuesday and don't forget to give the sketch a try.

Since I was late entering my card for the Try Stampin reveal, I was able to search out and add it to a couple of other site challenges.  Cuttlebug Mania - die cuts and Die Cutting Divas - Just Because.

Next week starts a new venture for Try Stampin.  We will be have two sets of teams and each team will post on alternate weeks.  Each week to start there will be a blurb about one of the Designers on the Team, so make sure you check back and see who and what is happening.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST#108

March is here and Green is the colour.  I know it's not St. Patty's Day but March has always been known as a green month to me.

Today at Try Stampin on Tuesday Mynnette has provided out sketch for the week.
So with green on my mind I came up with this idea.
I know that the colours look more like aqua or blue but trust me they are green.  I think it is the exposure on my camera these days that is giving me a problem.  Also I am taking the pictures away from my regular photo spot because I don't have it available.  I also added a splash of yellow to go along with the challenge over at The Dynamic Duos.
I decided to also use a leaf stamp set because hopefully just around the corner those buds will be showing and we then now that warmer weather and spring/summer is on its way.

Now hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other great designers have in store for you.  I have managed to get a sneak peak and I trust you their creations are great.

Did you get inspired enough?  Now it's your turn.  Try the sketch and post your creation for all of us to see on the Try Stampin site.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #98 Accentuate the Negative

Merry Christmas Everyone!
From My Home to Yours...I hope that Everyone has a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.

Now onto business.  It's tuesday and even though it is Christmas we are still busy at work creating and inspiring you to get out your supplies and join along with us at Try Stampin on Tuesday.  I know most of the girls will probably have one last Christmas Card to show you but I needed a Birthday Card for a co-worker so I went with that instead.

I must admit that this one stumped me a little, but I think that was because I have been in a non creative or should I say a non productive state these days.  Like everyone else tooooo much going on all at one time.  But I decided to get going and give this one a chance.

I started by choosing my colours.  First I wanted a white card, then I changed it to yellow once I picked out my DSP that I wanted to use.  Ended up using both white and yellow.   I hadn't tried by doily dies yet so I wanted to give them a try as well.
Then I needed something to tie the two sides together so I used my swirl dies and cut one of the swirls using the negative portion for my right side and the positive portion on the front of the card on the bottom.  Therefore I was "Accenting the Negative".

Next came Everything Eleanor.  I love this stamp set and mainly use just the flower.  I stamped out two flowers and trimmed them down.  Shaping and gluing the first one onto the doily I then cut a small slit into the top flower and added my flower centre through the slit.  Then I glued the second flower on top and waited for everything to dry.  Once dry I  shaped the centres.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Now pop on over to the Try Stampin on Tuesday site and see what the other great Designers have in store for you.  I hope that you will find just enough time to join us this week and recreate this great sketch and post your efforts on the site for all of us to see.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #89

It's Tuesday, so once again we are back with another great Try Stampin on Tuesday sketch.
Oh the possibilities.  I was going through all the new stamp sets that I had received not long ago and wanted to give one of them a try so I went with Everything Eleanor.  I started with my background and selected my Real Red ink to go along with it.

I stamped the solid piece from Everything Eleanor and then using the Apothecary Accents dies I cut it out.  Of course the die is smaller than the stamp set, so this allows you to choose where you want the discolourations from the stamp set.  This piece was lifted using dimensionals and then the swirl and the "birthday wishes" were adhered under that.

I stamped two flowers and cut them out, sponging the edges when finished.  One of the flowers I used underneath the other to accent the bottom layer leaf.  With a portion of that flower I also shave cut or feather cut the stamens for the flower and adhered them with Tombow glue.

I love this sketch I think that there are so many possibilities.  To see just how many possibilities there are hop on over to the Try Stampin website and see for yourself. While you are there, don't forget to post your idea for this great sketch.  See you there.

TST #56

This week was really a challenge over at Try Stampin on Tuesday .  Yes this one was difficult for me to come up with a card.  I actually was considering not doing it this week.  You ask why?  Because I am not used to making cards that are in this shape.  I see lots of other cards done this way and really like them, but just haven't tried this style.  So with that being said I hope that you enjoy what I have come up with.

Using a Spellbinder I cut out the largest of the shapes and the small portion that I cut off from the top I adhered under the bottom of the larger portion .  The scalloped edge punch I punched one side then flipped it and punched the opposite side.  "Thanks A Million" was stamped using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to make it fit inside the lace.

The flower is a combination of six layers from the Fun Flowers die.  Three of the second largest and three of the smallest size.  They were adhered together with a brad in the flat state and then I spritzed each layer with water and scrunched each layer, one layer at a time.  Once the flower dried it was as hard as a rock and I will certainly use this method again as it makes the flower really keep its shape.

Even though this card was difficult for me to produce I pushed through it and was happy with my end result. Now get on over and try it for yourself.

Hope you enjoy!

Pink Birthday Wishes

Going through my emails today I came across a Challenge over at
Joan's Garden Challenge #7.  The Challenge had a few must haves in it:

Create a card with lots of layers
Colour theme should be Pink and White
Add some dimensional flowers
Use a rectangle and an oval layer

This is what I came up with.  Although the flowers show as purple they actually are more pink but photographed differently.

I'm sure either way the lucky person this Birthday Card is going to will not even know the difference.

Happy Birthday!

Hope you enjoy!

Colour Challenge at Stampin Fun and Friends

Stampin Fun and Friends has offered another challenge.  This time it is a colour challenge.  The colours offered I did not have on hand so I had to improvise and used as close to the ones that were in the challenge.

http://api.ning.com/files/g5daTo6THGMExGzJ*sBT*DC3xDC*cKrf1nt8KeuPMETNf7dyoVGMGxJI5pTTie8wjICKDOFbj9PygU7rRowO46f5wqycacmq/ColorSFF001.jpg

To add a little dimension to the hearts I stamped over the cardstock used with the same colours using the I (Heart) Hearts stamp set and then sponged the edges.  The largest heart was free cut and stamped with a musical notes stamp.

When the card is opened the hearts are free floating on the front and then show across the entire card.

Hope you enjoy!
