TST #138 A Hint of Lime

It is certainly a birthday month for me.  I have been making birthday cards it seems every week for a co-worker.  This week over at Try Stampin on Tuesday we have not only a sketch, but a colour combination challenge for you to try.
Use Black and White and any other colour

I decided to kick it up a notch and go with lime green.
I started with my green base and added the black.  Cutting a second piece of the lime green I stamped it up using the words from French Foliage.  Then onto a piece of white CS I stamped the remaining leaves and accent stamps.  Using a Postage Stamp Punch I punched out the images.  I chose to go square instead of round like the sketch.
I added a sloppy string bow and stamped the sentiment just below the string onto the black to bring more attention down.

Hope you like what I have come up with.  Need more inspiration then see what the other great designers have in store for you over at Try Stampin.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST#108

March is here and Green is the colour.  I know it's not St. Patty's Day but March has always been known as a green month to me.

Today at Try Stampin on Tuesday Mynnette has provided out sketch for the week.
So with green on my mind I came up with this idea.
I know that the colours look more like aqua or blue but trust me they are green.  I think it is the exposure on my camera these days that is giving me a problem.  Also I am taking the pictures away from my regular photo spot because I don't have it available.  I also added a splash of yellow to go along with the challenge over at The Dynamic Duos.
I decided to also use a leaf stamp set because hopefully just around the corner those buds will be showing and we then now that warmer weather and spring/summer is on its way.

Now hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other great designers have in store for you.  I have managed to get a sneak peak and I trust you their creations are great.

Did you get inspired enough?  Now it's your turn.  Try the sketch and post your creation for all of us to see on the Try Stampin site.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #107 Special Day

Today is Tuesday.  It's Try Stampin on Tuesday day.  But more importantly it is a Very Special Day for my Dear Hubby and me!  Today is our 36th Wedding Anniversary.  With that in mind I decided to use today's sketch and make my card for him.  I have also tried to combine it with the colour challenge over at The Dynamic Duos.

I quickly figured out the amount of days that we have been together and then using the MDS program I made my own sentiment both on the outside and inside.
My sentiment is true!  I have been blessed to be married to as he puts it "My Best Friend, Lover and Companion" for 36 Years, and it does seem like just yesterday.

Happy Anniversary Peter.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope on over to the Try Stampin on Tuesday site to see what the other great designers have in store for you.

Sing a Song Mr. Blue Jay

Today I have a card that was originally inspired by a challenge over at Stampin Fun & Friends. Once I started the card I realized that it also fell into so many challenges this week I thought I had hit the jackpot.
The first challenge was the one at Stampin Fun and Friends, being an inspiration challenge.  This great photo was the inspiration.  It was taken by my dear friend CherylAnn Robinson.

The second challenge was over at Less is More being a music challenge.

The third challenge was over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges being a challenge to add a bird.  This will be the first time I have entered a challenge at this sight and boy are there some great cards there.  Lots of talent.

I had already submitted a card to the challenge over at Latenight Stampers but this one fell into the challenge perimeters so I decided to take a chance and enter a second card.

This was a great card to make and once I got started it just seem to come together like a puzzle with the last piece being the beautiful little blue bird!

Thanks for stopping by.

Purple & Blue..a Butterfly for You!

So today's card has been combined with colour challenges over at Late Night Stampers challenge 209 which is a blue theme and then by adding just a touch of purple I was able to add it into another challenge over at Sketchy Colors.  This is the first time for Sketchy Colors.

The big thing about this post is that it is a recreation of a tutorial over at Stampin Fun & Friends, Sweet Sentiments.  Robbie Rubala has given us excellent instructions on making a spinner card.
Along with the card is a template and instructions on actually making a box with a heart embellishment on the top.  I changed it out to accommodate the butterfly from the card.

You will notice that the papers I used today were the same papers as I used for my challenge card yesterday, trying to use up scraps as I work.

In order to make the butterfly look more 3D I cut out three from the DSP and a 4th one from the blue CS that I used as a base.  Folding two of the butterflies in half and then gluing them to the base butterfly and the top butterfly.  Very easy to do and makes an impact on the total look.

I hope that you will take the time to join us at Stampin Fun and Friends, we still have the whole month of February left to play.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #93

Tuesday and time once again for Try Stampin on Tuesday.  Being a little short on time with my work schedule( yes that dreaded FOUR letter word) this weeks sketch was a quick Sunday night do or die card.  I combined it once again with the colour challenge over at Dynamic Duos.

I love this shade of blue that is called Marina Mist.

I hope you enjoy what I have come up with now just on over to Try Stampin and see what the other great designers have in store for you.  Don't forget to post your version of the sketch.  Can't wait to see what you have come up with.

TST #92

It's Tuesday again so time to take part in the Try Stampin on Tuesday challenge.  This week CherylAnn has given us not only a sketch to work with but to add the colour Red into the card somehow.  So with that in mind I searched out Dynamic Duos and their challenge was to use the colours Sahara Sand and Cherry Cobbler. Perfect!

I actually started out using a different stamp set, until I realized that Paula Reid from our group had used the same one, so off to the drawing board to find another alternative.  I know I probably could have used the same set, but I really felt that the cards looked too much alike.  Clockworks to the rescue.

Even though this card has a little bit of ribbon on it I really do think that it could be used as either a masculine or feminine card.  What do you think?

Hope you like what I have come up with.  Now it's your turn.  Hope on over to Try Stampin on Tuesday and lets see what you come up with.  Don't forget your RED!

Triple Easel Christmas Card

Today is a catch up day for Stampin Fun & Friends, along with a new challenge.  This challenge indicated that you must use red, green and craft colours, along with any neutrals.  So with that in mind I decided to incorporate another colour challenge over at Dynamic Duos.  Mynnette from Mynnette's Technique Tuesday also saw my card and invited me to join her site this week as well.  Thanks Mynnette.
This triple easel card has been on my to-do list for some time now and with the help of a tutorial from Tanya Bell, it has finally come to life.

Although this one took a long time to make I liked how it turned out and next time I have more of an idea how to put it together MUCH quicker.

Hope you like what I have come up with.  Give this great card fold a try for yourself.

Inspiration for 2 Challenges

First off sorry for no card on Masculine Monday.  Time just snuck up on me and before I knew it I was out of time for a card.  So to make it up I have come up with a card that was inspired by a stamp set, but at the same time combines two challenges.  One challenge at The Dynamic Duos, and one over at I Spy Sketches.

This is the stamp set that inspired my card.

When I saw this stamp set come through on an email, I ran to my stamp sets and pulled out Gently Falling to recreate the effect.  I started by stampin the Musical Notes onto Very Vanilla CS and then over that I stamped the outline of the maple leaf from Gently Falling.  Then I began to sponge in the two colours.  I started with the green in the middle and then accented the outside with the Pumpkin Pie.  Finished the edges off to make them more rustic with Chocolate Chip.  I think the effect came out just great and I can't wait to try it again with one of the other leaves from the same set.

Not sure who or what the card will be for yet so I will leave the sentiment until I need it.

Here is my card:
You can see in the close-up of the leaf the musical notes stamped through the leaf.
I hope you like what I have come up with.

MojoMonday meets The Dynamic Duos

So I am a little partial to the colour red, if you look at my blog picture you will see that I have a red accent in the front of my hair.  This red has been with me now for about seven years and was first created by my daughter.  Over the past year at work I have noticed that it is catching on and now several fellow staff members are sporting a red accent in various parts of their hair as well.  So needless to say when I saw this weeks challenge over at The Dynamic Duos I just knew I had to find a sketch challenge to go along with the challenge colours, so enter Mojo Monday

I needed a birthday card for a friend and fellow coworker who moved away last year so I thought the sentiment that I used for the card front was very appropriate.

I hope that you like what I have come up with for both of these great challenge sites.

Thanks for dropping by.

Masculine Monday & Another Friend Says Goodbye

First I would like to start off by saying Goodbye to another friend of the family.  Last week I told you about my daughters friend "Nana" that passed away.  Yesterday we found out that Nana's best friend was rushed to the hospital and passed of exactly the same thing as Nana, just one week apart of each other.  Betty managed to make it to Nana's funeral, but like some people in life when their best friend or partner passes, they don't have the will to go on.  I think this is what happened to Betty. Betty and Nana were so close and she helped Nana in so many ways, she just knew that she still had to be there for her.  We will miss you Betty, but we also know that Nana will be happy to see you once again.

Now onto a lighter and happier note, today is Masculine Monday.  I have been putting in some long hours once again at work and totally forgot about it being Monday with our Canada Day Holiday and all.  I quickly put together this card and combined it with a colour challenge over at The Dynamic Duos.  I finally had the correct colours to work with.

I started with a plain piece of CS.  My CS had a little bit of dimension to it that almost appeared to be like a watercolour paper.  That is the subtle lines that you see running through it.  I then took my French Foliage words and stamped lightly with Crumb Cake all over the paper.  The words were very light and  didn't show well so I went on to plan B.  With the cascading leaves from the Inkadinkado stamp set Fall Season I once again stamped them randomly all over the CS base stamping once and then stamping off twice.  This gave the gradual effect I was looking for.  Yesterday as I mentioned was Canada Day so I then chose Cherry Cobbler and stamped using the same technique only in the one corner of the card.  On a scrap piece of CS I stamped the individual leaf and then cut it out.  The leaf was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.  I only sponged around the Cherry Cobbler side of the card front.  Then I added my simple greeting at the bottom.

The picture really doesn't do the card justice because when you look at the card it actually looks like the leaves are falling.

I hope you like what I have come up with today.

Time to... Unscripted Sketches #160

I get lots of emails for different sketch challenges and this weeks challenge at Unscripted Sketches caught my eye and I decided to give it a go.  I also decided to combine it with another challenge going on over at Dynamic Duos.
I started with a simple white card base and stamped with Composer's Dream.  Little did I know I had stamped it upside down until I removed the stamp.  I really should place arrows on the my stamps that say "Top" and "Bottom".  I did manage to cover up my booboo with the bird from Punch Potpourri.  I then took a piece of Marina Mist CS and punched a hole and placed the band over the Composer's Dream stamp.  The flowers were stamped out twice and then slit to just shy of the centre so that I could give them a little dimension and have the petals appear like they were more individual petals.  To tie the top and bottom together I punched out the leaves from the Two Step Bird Punch and placed them cascading from the flowers and under the bird.

I hope you enjoy it.

Stampin Fun & Friends Colour Challenge

Stampin Fun and Friends has started and we are into our first colour challenge.

It you haven't signed up yet we are only on Day 1 and you will still be able to take part. In fact our first chat is this evening at 9 PM, so get going. Just click the link to the right side of my blog to join in on the fun!

I decided to try a Flip Card. There have been lots of these posted lately on different sites. I followed the instructions on Dawn Griffith's site.

Once I had the card base and opening cut I used the same sized die to cut two pieces of the pink and then two of the white.  They were adhered to the opening hinge and stamped again with the sentiments.

Using Composer's Dream stamp I stamped the background image on both the left and right side of the card.  As luck would have it when the card is closed the music follows right along the card as if it was printed on the paper itself.  Then I sponged using the same colour all around the page.

For the inside of the flip I used "Outlined Occasions" and stamped over the die cut piece and then put a plain white centre to write my greeting.

Yellow accents were used by placing a pin with yellow beads through a white organza ribbon.

Don't forget your envelop.  By stamping on the outside of the envelop as well it gives the person receiving the card a hint as to what is on the inside, plus they will surely know who it is from.

Fun challenge, now it's your turn.

Hope you enjoy!

Paradise Found

The inspiration for this  card came from Ilina Crouse who had made a series of cards using the Two Step Bird Punch to create the Bird of Paradise flower.  It uses 3 of the bird body and 5 of the bird wings.
Hope you enjoy!
