Cardabilties #62 Aged to Perfection
Birthday week here again and another Cardabilities This week I went with a fall theme mainly because the person is turning 60 and I would certainly say that he is Aged to Perfection.
Knowing that I wanted to use fall colours I went with my old favourite stamp set French Foliage. I think I have used this set more than any other set that I have owned. By starting with More Mustard and then using the rock-n-roll method I added Cajun Craze or Cherry Cobbler to the edges. After the stamping I sponged in the remainder of the leaves and cut them out and crinkled them up to give an aged look.
Then moving on to the card front I chose a DSP that would pick up the colours used. Punching out a tag from the Lots of Tags dies I stamped the "Aged to Perfection" and then lifted it with the DSP used for the base. There was still an empty void once I placed the leaves so I decided to add a little twine to the front. Three strands were placed across the front, tangled up in the leaves. Again with the number three I tied three simple knots. By using the knots I think it gives it a more masculine look Now I was happy!
Now it's your turn. Hop on over to Cardabilities and give this sketch a try. I can't wait to see what you have in store for me. Don't forget to check out the other great Designers on the website as well.
Thanks for stoping by.

Once again we are here atTry Stampin on Tuesday with another great sketch.
This one was made at the last minute, and I do mean last minute. I didn't think I was going to be able to take part in this weeks session due to work and home commitments. Last week I had my Grandson for most of the week, which I didn't mind at all, but then I am dealing with my father and his rapid decline with dementia. It is so sad to see someone rapidly decline and it only brings back memories of my mother when she had Alzheimer's. I don't like to let anyone down so I just had to buck up and get this card done as I was definitely running out of TIME. Thus my theme for the card TIME!
I know you will love what out designers have come up with as well. Now it's your turn. Show us what you can do with this great sketch and post it on the TSOT site. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Thanks for dropping by.

Double the Pleasure, Double the Fun....Twins!
A fellow co-worker asked me to make her a special card for a baby shower that she was attending. The proud Momma-to-Be is having TWINS! They already know that they are having boy and a girl.
I thought about this one for a while. First I thought I would make an explosion card with cribs, but too expensive. So to simplify things I thought diaper!
I Googled "diaper card template" and found numerous templates to make diaper cards with. There was so much to choose from and the inspirations were great. After seeing what was available, I set out to make my card.
I cut slits in the front of the diaper and adhered diaper pins to the openings using glue dots. The card fit perfectly into a regular card envelop.

I Googled "diaper card template" and found numerous templates to make diaper cards with. There was so much to choose from and the inspirations were great. After seeing what was available, I set out to make my card.
I started with Whisper White CS and cut out the basic diaper shape. Then using a blue ginham and pink polka-dot DSP that I had I adhered them using sticky strip to the diaper base down the middle, leaving the legs open.
Then with plain CS in the corresponding colours I punched out a scalloped edge for the one side and a diamond edge for the other. After punching these out I ran them through my crimper several times to break the fibers to allow them to be more easily applied to the diaper. Again with sticky strip I adhered these crimped pieces inside the two layers of the cardstock.
Next was my inside. I searched for a greeting that would be appropriate for Twins, but couldn't find anything I liked to I decided to try it on my own. I printed this out on regular paper and adhered it to the inside of the card. This is what I came up with. Then I added the little hand and foot prints to the inside of the base.
I was very pleased with the outcome and I'm sure that the Mommy-to-Be will be happy with it too (or should I say Two!)

It's Tuesday, so once again we are back with another great Try Stampin on Tuesday sketch.
Oh the possibilities. I was going through all the new stamp sets that I had received not long ago and wanted to give one of them a try so I went with Everything Eleanor. I started with my background and selected my Real Red ink to go along with it.

I stamped the solid piece from Everything Eleanor and then using the Apothecary Accents dies I cut it out. Of course the die is smaller than the stamp set, so this allows you to choose where you want the discolourations from the stamp set. This piece was lifted using dimensionals and then the swirl and the "birthday wishes" were adhered under that.
I stamped two flowers and cut them out, sponging the edges when finished. One of the flowers I used underneath the other to accent the bottom layer leaf. With a portion of that flower I also shave cut or feather cut the stamens for the flower and adhered them with Tombow glue.
I love this sketch I think that there are so many possibilities. To see just how many possibilities there are hop on over to the Try Stampin website and see for yourself. While you are there, don't forget to post your idea for this great sketch. See you there.

Happy 3rd Anniversary!
Today is my Son and DIL's third wedding anniversary, so to go along with their original wedding theme I have created a sunflower card using the triple layer stamp card technique.
I thought that it would be fitting to do a triple layer card seeing as it is their 3rd anniversary. Also Carol and the girls carried sunflowers for the wedding and I would like to continue each year with this theme...hopefully.
They have had lots go on this year and to keep in the theme of three's this year they were blessed with the best son EVER! He smiles all the time, such a happy little guy! Kyle said he got his new truck, just like Dad's and best of all he landed his dream job after 10 years of trying as a firefighter.
We are very proud of them and love our new little addition most of all.

Once again we are here at Try Stampin on Tuesday with another great sketch.
Not long ago I received my shipment of new toys from Stampin Up and when I saw this sketch I thought "Clock Works". I was really disappointed when SU retired Sense of Time but when they brought out Clock Works I forgave them. With this set you have a variety of choices and they work well with the original Sense of TIme. Here is what I came up with for this sketch. I hope you like it.

I would have like to have a small piece of chain go from the clock to the cog, but didn't have one, not even an old piece of jewelry that I could have used. So I used butcher string and ran it over the ink pad to give it some colour.
Another thing that I thought about was "Timex". I don't know if you remember the old commercials that used to play on TV (boy am I showing my age). If you remember they only showed the commercials from what I remember in the evening and the time on the watches was always set at 1:50 or 10 and 2. I read somewhere that Timex did this and showed the commercials in the evening so that people would not think that the time was actually 1:50 in the afternoon or morning. That's my story and I'm stickin to it!
Now it's your turn. Let's see what you come up with. Don't forget to post your creations on the Try Stampin blogsite. Also check out the other great Designers on the site as well. You will not be disappointed.

Cardabilties #61- Giving the Gears
"Giving the Gears" is what I have decided to call my card this week for Cardabilities. I first thought of all the different stamp sets that I could use for a flower embellishment like the sketch, but then I needed a masculine card and bingo the gears came to me.
I started with a 2" strip of tin foil and adhered it to the card front. Then I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Gear Embossing Folder and shims on both sides of the CS to avoid embossing the other sections of the CS. Then a simple frame was cut out of Black CS and adhered directly to the tin foil. A series of cogs were punched out and sponged. In order to give dimension to the cogs I used small strips of foam and inked the sides with black so that they would not be noticed when the card was seen from the side.
You can see from the picture on the left the tin foil embossed without any tearing. I would highly recommend using this for any "metal" look when you don't have regular tin, plus it is safer (no cuts or scratches).
I hope you like what I have come up with. Hop on over to Cardabilities now and see what the other Designers have in store for you. Don't forget to give the sketch a try. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

TST #87
First off I would like to wish all my Canadian Friends out there a Happy Thanksgiving. I know my household had a lot to be thankful for this year and it was great to have everyone around the dinner table to celebrate it together. Now onto business....
It's Tuesday, so once again we are back with another great Try Stampin on Tuesday sketch.
With the Canadian Thanksgiving just happening I thought I would give the feather another try. I really love this stamp set and the way you can use your markers to colour the feathers rather than just the stamp pad itself. Here I used Concord Crush and Lucky Limeaid to create the colours in the feathers.
Then using my punches I created a backdrop for the smaller feather and adhered them to a strip of CS with dimensionals.
I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving, for those that celebrated it, and will give this sketch a try. Don't forget to post your card for all of us to admire.
Thanks for stopping by.

TST #86 Escape to Adventure
Tuesday and another Try Stampin on Tuesday challenge. So how simple can a sketch get...but on the other hand how difficult can it be to recreate. That's what I thought when I saw this sketch. Great, simple, straight forward quick and easy. NOT!
My days have been so busy with work, yes that F*O*U*R letter word! I get up go to work, want to come home and play with my cards and I'm so tired I sit down and just can't seem to get inspired. Hmmm, inspiration that's what I need. I need time to relax and just spend time with my best bud, my dear husband. Time alone. Oh how I would love to just Escape to Adventure!
Even managed to use up a few scraps from previous cards making this one.
I know this is not that exciting, but just thinking about taking a much needed break with my hubby is excitement enough for me. Now lets see what you can come up with. Don't forget to post your card for us to be able to see.
Thanks for stoping by.
