Freshly Made Sketch #83 The Open Sea

As I was going through my emails this morning I came across the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches and was taken by the sketch they had there.
To be honest I am definitely in a slump these days.  I want to stamp and play, but I am going through some really hard times with my Dad and his continued decline with dementia.  Seeing that he was in the Navy during the war I always seem to make him nautical themed cards for birthdays and such.  This one is just to say "I Love You Dad" even though you may not think I do.
I started with the Open Sea DSP for the background and using a distressing tool I distressed the edges of the DSP.  Then I stamped onto kraft CS the anchors and the manifest to the strip behind the wheel and boat.  Using bakers twine (since I didn't have any real rope I created the horizontal line behind the images.  I stamped out the ship over the Open Sea DSP and cut it out.  Using dimensionals I made the wheel appear to be of the paper.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nancy
