TST #142 All the Leaves are Gone!

Yes Autumn has just about finished its grand colour display and the majority of the leaves are down and raked up.  However this week I decided to give autumn just one more chance to show it's colours.  I have chosen a muted colour scheme for my card instead of the vibrant autumn colours.

Here is the great sketch that we have to work with this week at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

Use the colour ORANGE on your card!

I think that there are so many possibilities for this sketch and I know that I will keep it in my book of sketches for future use.
The leaves were copied onto double sided DSP that I had on hand using a photo copier.  The DSP that I chose had a combination of pale orange and the green. I wanted the clean lines of the maple leaf so I sketched out the leaves and simply copied them. Once they were copied out I fussy cut them and then edged the sides with a marker to make the sides bolder.
I was very pleased with the results and hope that you are as well.  Now it's your turn.  Give this great sketch a try and don't forget to post your accomplishments on our site!

Thanks for stopping by.

thanks...For All You Do...

Today I have a recreation of a card that was demonstrated through the Cards...Cards...Cards... session over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  The original was designed by Kris McIntosh.

I created my version of the card for my husband.  I wanted to use colours not associated with fall, but I also love the French Foliage stamp set so I decided to combine, Marina Mist and Concord Crush.  The technique used was a form of masking.  My husband has been my Rock these days and without him I really don't know where I would get my strength.  So, Thanks...For all you do!
I took the wording from the stamp set For All You Do and recreated it using my Word program on the computer.  I needed it to be larger than that of the actual stamp set and this allowed me to use the wording and the sizing that I wanted.
I hope you like what I have come up with.  You can still join the group at Stampin Fun and Friends.  Just click on the link to the right of my blog.

Let's Celebrate

Mojo Monday had a sketch challenge this week, that was very much like a card that I had made a few years ago.

I dug through my photo archive and found that picture (the yellow card).  I think when I made this card the squares were 1".

Then I decided to recreate that same card over again and this is what I came up with this time.

This is a fun and quick card to make, the only issue is figuring out your square size.  Mine is 1 1/4" square.  So of the two cards which one do you like best?

Hope you enjoy this card.

TST #49

Today on Try Stampin on Tuesday the sketch just did not talk to me.  I really struggled with this one and after a couple of attempts this was my result.

I had lots of Real Red scraps in my scrap pile so that was the colour I wanted to work with.  Hmmm! Red...Valentine!  I think what I struggled with the most on on the sketch was the bottom portion of the sketch.  So I kind of changed it up a bit to suit what I thought worked.

The recipe for this card was again use scraps so cutting a piece of Real Red 4 x 5 1/4 and set aside.  Cut a piece of Whisper White 2 1/2 x 4/12.  Stamp the French Script on the Whisper White using Real Red.  Sponge the edges of this piece with Real Red. Adhere this piece to the Real Red CS. Now if you have a heart punch use that, but believe it or not I don't...but I do have a Cricket so I cut 2 Real Red hearts and 2 Whisper White hearts. The hearts were cut from Plantin Schoolbook - shaddow/heart set at 1 1/2". Stamp one of the Whisper White with a heart from the I (Heart) Hearts stamp set and adhere it to the front of the White CS. With the small "love" stamp and "forever" from the Fabulous Phrases stamp set stamp your second heart. Punch a small hole in the top of the second one and attach a small piece of ribbon through the top.  This piece actually will float and can be taken out of the heart pocket.  Now with the two red hearts place them point end to point end and overlap, then wrap the rounded edges over the front of the second heart to form a pouch. Once it is shaped the way you like adhere the two together and then adhere to the card front.  Place your ribboned heart inside the pouch.  Attach your accent ribbon to the bottom and you are DONE!

Again this was a challenge but I did keep my resolution and used up scraps!  Wonder how much longer I can continue to work with scraps...they are getting smaller and smaller.

Hope you enjoy!
