HOC: Sketch Challenge - One Stamp Two looks!

Good morning and welcome to the House of Cards challenge this month.  We had some amazing entries last month for our challenge so congratulations to everyone who entered.  Believe me the choices were endless and the decision for the Top 5 was VERY difficult.

This time we have a sketch challenge for you.  This is one of those sketches that you make sure that you hang on to because there are soooooo many possibilities.
My card today started out as a Birthday Card for my Dear Husband but it actually ended up being two cards from the same stamp set.  The stamp set I used was Postage Due from Stampin Up.
I started my inking up a scrap piece of CS using various colours and blending them as I went down the CS.  Then I used water and spritzed the CS, hoping to give it a watered look (but it didn't happen).  I think I should have used alcohol with the water to make the water droplets appear - any suggestions welcome!

I added a little stamp onto the envelop to give "my 2 cents worth" and then stamped over that again with a cancellation stamp.  I had another bicycle and stamped that on the other side of the envelop as well.  On the inside I found this great little sentiment which truly says it all, only wish I had come up with it on my own, but thank you to whomever did come up with it.
After I had completed the first card I could clearly see another card from the remaining CS that I had stamped on so here is my second card using the same sketch. This card was more feminine, but I always love surprises when they happen like this.

I know that my Dear Hubby will love his birthday card and I think I have a recipient for the second card as well so I hope that she will love it too.

Now it's your turn.  Use the great sketch from HOC Sketch Challenge and see what you come up with.  Can you manage to make two cards from the same stamp set like I did?  If you can, make sure to enter both of them and don't forget we have lots of styles to choose from.

Thanks for stoping by.

Butterflies Galore!

Today I have a card that was inspired by a sketch over at Inkspirational Challenges, along with a colour challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays.  I have never taken part in the Party Time Tuesday challenges but loved the colour combination that they had going for this week.

I wanted to make a card with Butterflies on it and make that my focal point.  Then I found another challenge over at FlourishesTimeless Tuesday that had the subject for the week being Butterflies.  This is another new Challenge site for me.
Timeless-Tuesday-New-Logo
I had originally thought of doing a white on white card, but once I had the butterflies stamped I knew I needed to take it up a notch so I went with the orange cardstock for my base.
Starting with the butterfly in the centre I worked my way around the card using the four different colours and a rock-n-roll technique for the stamping.

For the bling portion I didn't want to be too flashy so I went with four small deep red pearls.

The inside of the card uses the "Celebrate" stamp from Outlined Occasions and once again I added the little butterflies to accent it.

Hope you like what I have come up with.  I know it's just a matter of time before I see the real thing in my backyard and can't wait.

Thanks for stopping by.
