TST #111

It's Tuesday and time once again for Try Stampin on Tuesday.  Mynnette has come up once again with a fabulous sketch challenge for us.
I had a lot of fun while in Florida picking up new supplies and on todays card I get to play with one of the Spellbinder dies that I picked up "Labels Thirteen".  Even managed to pick it up on Clearance...bonus!
This card had a home before it was even started.  You see it was made for Rob, my Daughters Boyfriend.

There was actually a mistake made with the sentiment, but the mistake ended up to be the side that was used.  You see I wanted to stamp around the outside of the CS and leave the centre free to stamp my greeting, but forgot to put the mast piece down.  I placed the stamp on the CS and before fulling pressing down I realized I had forgot the mask.  I quickly pulled it off but the ink had already started to stamp onto the piece, so I turned it over and tried it again.  This is what I ended up with.
Once I looked at the colours and the way it looked I thought hmmm the mistake actually looked better so I went with that.  I added a little bakers twine and brads to finish off the front.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Need a little more inspiration for your card, hop on over to see what our great Design Team have in store for you.

Thanks for stopping by.

TST#109 I Sea it's your Birthday!

Yes...Sea!  I am really having a lot of fun experimenting with this stamp set.  If you take the time you not only end up with the shells stamped, but you can sculpt them to give them a more realistic look...even if the colours are out of this world.

Today at Try Stampin on Tuesday Mynnette has provided us with another great sketch.
I actually started out thinking flowers, just like the sketch, but ended up going with the shells from By the Seashore.

This is the colour that we have been waking up to most mornings.  I say most mornings, because with the last week or so we have had some terrible storms and the gulf has been brown because the waters have been so stirred up.

Once you have stamped the shells use a sharp tool, I used my piercing tool and start to shape your shells.  I also added a little bit of shadow on the shells as well to give them more character.

I hope you like what I have come up with, now its your turn.  Need a little more inspiration?  Hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other great Designers have in store for you.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sing a Song Mr. Blue Jay

Today I have a card that was originally inspired by a challenge over at Stampin Fun & Friends. Once I started the card I realized that it also fell into so many challenges this week I thought I had hit the jackpot.
The first challenge was the one at Stampin Fun and Friends, being an inspiration challenge.  This great photo was the inspiration.  It was taken by my dear friend CherylAnn Robinson.

The second challenge was over at Less is More being a music challenge.

The third challenge was over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges being a challenge to add a bird.  This will be the first time I have entered a challenge at this sight and boy are there some great cards there.  Lots of talent.

I had already submitted a card to the challenge over at Latenight Stampers but this one fell into the challenge perimeters so I decided to take a chance and enter a second card.

This was a great card to make and once I got started it just seem to come together like a puzzle with the last piece being the beautiful little blue bird!

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #103 ...just because

It's Tuesday once again, and Jen has come up with another great sketch over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I know I did not follow the sketch completly but I wanted to change it up a little.  That is the joy of picking a sketch and running with what your gut thinks.

I started with my DSP which was from My Mind's Eye, Everyday Tango.  The colours are a little harder to match up with regular cardstock, but I managed to find a light blue one that coordinated quite well with the DSP.  It is difficult to see from the colours in the picture but the DSP matched very well with Dusty Durango so I used that to stamp out the shells on the blue CS.  I added two small strips of blue again over the DSP and then using regular bakers twine I ran it over Marina Mist and the Dusty Durango to dirty it up and coordinate with the card colours.
Once I stamped out the shells I trimmed them up and using a rounded stylis I shaped the shells to give them more dimension.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Now hop on over to the Try Stampin site and see what the other Designers have in store for you.  Got enough inspiration?  Give the sketch a try and upload it so that we all can see your creation.

Thanks for stopping by.
