TST #81

It's Tuesday...so time once again for Try Stampin on Tuesday.  Today's sketch leaves a lot to the imagination and I have used the sketch to create a subtle but dramatic effect.

I started with a Marina Mist card base and then using Whisper White and my scoreboard I made diaginal lines accross the card front.  Then using the Spellbinders Labels Five I cut out, stamped and sponged the front.  Then with Vintage Vogue and More Mustard (an unusual colour combination) I stamped and cut out the two flowers.  Added a little bling to the flower centres and a button.  Voila!

Now it's your turn.  Hop on over to the Try Stampin website and give the sketch a try.  I know you will be inspired by the great cards that have been made by the other designers.

Hope you like what I have come up with.

TST #80

As promised I am back this week taking part in Try Stampin on Tuesday.  For the sketch this week I wanted to try something a little different and then I needed two cards for two different co-workers who are off to University in a couple of weeks, so I decided to use this sketch for their cards.

I decided to try and make the cards more personal to them, even though they will be going to universities in the same city.  Once is going to Carlton University and the other to University of Ottawa.

Both cards started by using map.google to locate and print out the location of the university.  This was then printed onto CS and cut down as a layered base on the card front.  Then using the "Go Confidently..." stamp from Word Play I stamped it onto Whisper White and then a different version of "Go Confidently..." for the other card.  One of the cards is for a girl and the other a boy.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Now hop on over and see what the other designers have in store for you.  You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for dropping by.

Celebrate Summer Aperture Card

Celebrate Summer started on Wednesday over at Stampin Fun and Friends and this was my first of two contributions to the projects.  This session we are creating at least one project each that involves a different fold for a card, along with a holder and series of cards to go with it.

Mine is an Aperture card.  An aperture card is one that has a hole in it with a picture or sentiment behind the hole.  With the card that I have produced you could actually put an actual photo inside from a pool party or summer event to say "Thanks" to the host and hostess for their time and efforts in creating such a great day.

Along with the card is a holder that will not only hold the Aperture card, but four coordinating cards using the same stamp set "Sunny Fun".  These cards are clean and simple.  You could even get your kids to help colour in the stamps.

We have lots in store for you at Stampin Fun and Friends and you can still register and receive all of the great tutorials that have been posted so far.  Plus you can see the great job of recreating the different cards.  Two Aperture cards have already been posted and both are spectacular.  Click on the link to the top right of my blog and join in on the fun.

See you there!

Wow, talk about lifting my spirits!

Wow ladies.  I certainly have news for you today.

I have been having a hard go of it lately dealing with my ailing father and having to take over his affairs along with working full time, and that has to do with a lot of why I have not posted in the last couple of days.  However....

Last week I entered a sketch and colour challenge over at Ispy and The Dynamic Duos.  On Saturday I discovered that I had made Honourable Mention for Dynamic Duos.  Today as I am going through my emails and blog I find that I have received the honour of being Top 2 at I Spy for the same card.  Thank you, thank you so much, and to think the cards inspiration all came from a stamp set that I spoted on the internet!  Just to refresh your memory here is what the card looked like.

The next thing I would like to tell you all about is that I have been chosen to be a Designer over at Cardabilities.  I am so exited about this and over the next three months I will be able to join the Design Team there.

Lastly the next session of Stampin Fun and Friends starts Wednesday night so if you have not registered yet, you don't want to miss out on this one.

Thanks again.  Being sellected as an Honourable Menton, Top 2 or Designer is the icing on the cake, but what means the most to me are all your great comments, so thank you all for your time in letting me know what you think about my cards.

I have seen what the other designers have in store for you and I know you will be just as pleased as I am.  So hop on over to Try Stampin on Tuesday and give this sketch a try.  Can't wait to see what you have come up with.

Masculine Monday

Ok so I am confessing before I get into my blog today that the card I am showing you was made a while back.  The past week has been filled with family issues and I just have not had time to stamp so please forgive me.
This is an Aperture card I made for my Hubby last year.  I never get tired of using Sense of Time and the combination of this stamp set and the Cog punch just automatically go together.

Thanks for stopping by.

Inspiration for 2 Challenges

First off sorry for no card on Masculine Monday.  Time just snuck up on me and before I knew it I was out of time for a card.  So to make it up I have come up with a card that was inspired by a stamp set, but at the same time combines two challenges.  One challenge at The Dynamic Duos, and one over at I Spy Sketches.

This is the stamp set that inspired my card.

When I saw this stamp set come through on an email, I ran to my stamp sets and pulled out Gently Falling to recreate the effect.  I started by stampin the Musical Notes onto Very Vanilla CS and then over that I stamped the outline of the maple leaf from Gently Falling.  Then I began to sponge in the two colours.  I started with the green in the middle and then accented the outside with the Pumpkin Pie.  Finished the edges off to make them more rustic with Chocolate Chip.  I think the effect came out just great and I can't wait to try it again with one of the other leaves from the same set.

Not sure who or what the card will be for yet so I will leave the sentiment until I need it.

Here is my card:
You can see in the close-up of the leaf the musical notes stamped through the leaf.
I hope you like what I have come up with.

TST #78

It's Tuesday again.  Boy time flies by and now we are into August.  Half of the summer gone already?

It's Tuesday again and time for Try Stampin on Tuesday.  Jen is back this week with another great sketch.  I hope you like what I have come up with.

So first off I must give credit to Kristen Conant for my colour selection.  Kristen has made a couple of cards lately in this colour combination and I just love it so...Thanks Kristen.

I started by cutting down a tag purchased at Staples.  and then blended in the Old Olive and Concord Crush across it.  stamped the writing and ink spots from the French Foliage stamp set and Bammed out a leaf from the same set.  Ok I know you are asking what do you mean Bammed?  I first inked up the stamp with the Old Olive but wanted a hint of the Concord Crush to come through as well so I quickly hit the stamp onto the Concord Crush pad.  Bam!  Then once the leaf was cut out I sponged over it with the two colours and ran it through the crimper a few times.  Using Dimensionals I adhered it to the tag and then using Dimensionals again I adhered the tag to the card front.

The sentiment is from Bring On the Cake and I split the "wishing you a wonderful day" sentiment and only stamped the "wishing you" part on the card front.  With my Old Olive pen I added 3 small dots and on the inside I completed the sentiment and then added the "Happy Birthday" below that.

I hope you like what I have come up with, now pop on over and see what the rest of the Design Team as in store for you.  Don't forget to give the sketch a try for yourself and post your accomplishment on the site for me to see.
