HOC September Challenge

This month at House of Cards we have an inspirational photo for you.  I managed to get a sneak peek at some of the other designers and I must say I certainly missed the mark on this one.  I used the colours as opposed to the actual photo for my cards.  Yes cards.  I have two cards for you today.  The first card uses the top three colours and the bottom card uses the bottom three colours.

Now for my cards:

My first card I used the honeycomb stencil from Heidi Swapp.  I didn't have the correct stencil paste and never having done this before I tried gesso and slightly coloured it with my ink.  I was pretty happy with the results.  I then took some plain coloured CS and stamped randomly over it and sponged the edges just to give it a more grungy look.  The pieces were set in place using dimensionals and glue.

My second card again used the honeycomb stencil, but this time I sponged over the stencil with my inks once and then slightly moved the stencil and using a different colour I sponged lightly again.  After embossing my butterfly and embellishing it with seed pearls I used my Stamp-a-ma-gig to place the sentiment on the card so that it would surround one of the honeycombs.

I hope you like what I have come up with but I know for sure you will love what the other Designers have come up with.

Cardabiltiies #60 - Wings of a Butterfly

It's Cardabilities day and today they have a great sketch for you to try out.  This sketch again leaves a lot to the imagination and I know that you will be able to come up with something great.

I have decided to go with a butterfly theme for this card and have used the Beautiful Butterfly die to create 3D butterflies.  

By die cutting 3 of each of the butterflies the two extra that are cut out are folded in half and then glued to the front butterfly.  By doing this it gives the illusion that the butterfly is actually taking flight.

You can see on this close up that the butterfly actually has a front and back to it.  I have used wire and seed pearls to give the body a blinged up look.

Butterfly Thank You

My daughter needed a card for her other family (one that she has babysat for years and looks just like the girls in that family).  They were picking her up at the airport after her rainy and chilly week with us during her Spring Break.

The family is very much into nature so I figured butterflies would be a great touch.

The card was cut on a diagonal and then trifolded.  Each of the butterflies were die cut twice.  One shows on the front the other on the back.  Then the spaces in between were filled in with the smaller butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Sizzlet.

SFF Remake Wine and Chocolate

I hope that you have taken the time to visit us over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  Here is another of our projects done my way.

This is a remake of one done by Tanya Bell.  Her's included a little different kind of sweet, but we enjoy chocolate with our wine so I incorporated that into my project.

This would make a great hostess gift at your next get together.
