TST #107 Special Day

Today is Tuesday.  It's Try Stampin on Tuesday day.  But more importantly it is a Very Special Day for my Dear Hubby and me!  Today is our 36th Wedding Anniversary.  With that in mind I decided to use today's sketch and make my card for him.  I have also tried to combine it with the colour challenge over at The Dynamic Duos.

I quickly figured out the amount of days that we have been together and then using the MDS program I made my own sentiment both on the outside and inside.
My sentiment is true!  I have been blessed to be married to as he puts it "My Best Friend, Lover and Companion" for 36 Years, and it does seem like just yesterday.

Happy Anniversary Peter.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope on over to the Try Stampin on Tuesday site to see what the other great designers have in store for you.

Birthday Wishes

Today I have a card that came from a sketch by Mary Jo Price-Williams at TSSC #251 as well as a challenge over at Late Night Stampers for birthdays.

Unfortunately the colours did not come out very well.  The DSP I used from from MME, Everyday Tango and is actually green with a slight tinge of blue.  The background CS is Old Olive and I embossed it with the modern wallpaper embossing folder.  I was originally going to use the other side of the paper, but once I played around with the ink I liked this side better.  The lines you see are from the ink pad.  I used the ink pad and lightly blotted it around the CS creating the lines.  It gave it a rustic look.  The bird was punched out using the Two Step Bird Punch and the same DSP as the other paper.  This time you can see the blue on the paper.  I laid the leaves out and added a rustic look to them with the ink pad as well.
Even close up you still can't see the green in the DSP.

I hope you like what I have come up with.

Giving the Gears

I made a Valentine's card for my Hubby and was very pleased with the results.  This is the card made for him.
When I looked at the card even though it was clean and simple it packed a lot of punch in person.
Because I liked that card so much I decided to try it a second time but using a different theme.  This time I went with a masculine card using gears.
Unfortunately the outcome was not as great as the first card.  I did not stamp a sentiment on the card, like I do for a lot of my cards.  I do this for two reasons.  It allows me to choose a card and then the sentiment once I know who and what the card is being used for.  I could probably turn this card the other way as well.
Rather than a bow or knot of some sort I decided to make the twine simply look like it was holding the gears from moving.

Although this card did not turn out as hoped I know that I will find the perfect person for it along with the perfect sentiment.

TST #106 Concertina Butterfly

I first have to admit that I just did not have the motivation for creating a card this week.  Don't know why.  I would enter my room and just seem lost.  Anyway I found a great pattern from Shirley for a concertina butterfly and decided to give that a try as part of this challenge.  You can check out her great idea and if you would like the pattern just email her and she will send it to you.

I also wanted to combine this card with a challenge that we were running over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  There is still time to play along with us over there until the end of the month.  Even if you register now you still have access to all the great tutorials that are being posted.

Here is a close up of the butterfly once it is complete.

I hope you like what I have come up with.  Now I do have to say I had a sneak peak at the other Designers work and I know you will certainly be inspired by their great cards.  Here is the link to Try Stampin on Tuesday.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.  I hope that each and everyone of you have someone special to celebrate this special day with.

For me, I have to say that just about every day is Valentine's Day for me because I am married to my best friend.  He makes every day special.

Today I have two cards for you.  The first is a simple card that I made for Stampin Fun and Friends.  This is a spiral pop-up card.  For most pop-up cards the spiral portion is made with a circle cut round and round.  To go along with the Valentine's theme I decided to take a heart and make it into a spiral giving the spiral a little more character.

The second of my Valentine's cards for Stampin Fun and Friends is again a spiral card but with even more depth and character.  This one has a double spiral that becomes a 3D heart when the card opens.
So no mater who you are with today I wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day and may your Heart be Content.

Thanks for dropping by.

By the Seashore Waterfall

I have another great card recreation from Stampin Fun and Friends today.  This one is a waterfall card.  I have to say that I am not easily stumped, but this one had me.  For the life of me I just could not figure out the waterfall sequence.  Then it clicked.  Once it clicked I thought how silly of me not to be able to figure it out and I would certainly make another one of these cards.

Hope you like what I have come up with.

TST #105 Which one?

Tuesday rolls around so fast these days.  Jenn has come up with a great sketch for you today over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.  It is so great that I had a hard time coming up with just one card...so here are two cards that I created using the same sketch.  I know with Valentine's Day later this week I should be producing a Valentine's card but I decided to go with something different.

This is the first card that I came up with, but I wasn't happy with the colours once it was complete and really didn't want to publish it.
The colours of the paper are really quite nice.  It is from a MME collection.
So obviously this would be for a female.  Then overnight (yes I create in my sleep sometimes) I decided to go in a different direction and created this card which is more masculine.
The CS base is actually a medium brown and the next layer is a lighter version of it.  I used the ledger from Open Sea to make the vertical line in the background.  Then I stamped the world on Marina Mist and cut it out, sponging the edges.  I also stamped the compass in the same colour and used the smallest ornament die from the ornament collection.  Punching a hole in the top of the compass piece I attached it to a nautical knot and secured it to the card front.  I know that this portion was not on the design, but I needed an anchor for the compass (honest no pun intended for the terms being used).

I much prefer this version of the card.  How about you?

Now what can you dream up?  Need some more inspiration, hop on over to the Try Stampin site to see what the other Great Designers have in store for you.

Sing a Song Mr. Blue Jay

Today I have a card that was originally inspired by a challenge over at Stampin Fun & Friends. Once I started the card I realized that it also fell into so many challenges this week I thought I had hit the jackpot.
The first challenge was the one at Stampin Fun and Friends, being an inspiration challenge.  This great photo was the inspiration.  It was taken by my dear friend CherylAnn Robinson.

The second challenge was over at Less is More being a music challenge.

The third challenge was over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges being a challenge to add a bird.  This will be the first time I have entered a challenge at this sight and boy are there some great cards there.  Lots of talent.

I had already submitted a card to the challenge over at Latenight Stampers but this one fell into the challenge perimeters so I decided to take a chance and enter a second card.

This was a great card to make and once I got started it just seem to come together like a puzzle with the last piece being the beautiful little blue bird!

Thanks for stopping by.

TST #104 Tick...Tock

It's once again the time to bring out the sketch challenge over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I loved this sketch and I started to go through my DSP paper for inspiration.  First I thought dark green, but had a hard time finding the right DSP to go with it until I found one that was very muted, but had just the right hint of the green that I wanted.  Then once I had the basic form together it was too plain looking.  I wanted to use the Clock Works stamp set so I decided to run just the dark green and the DSP strip through the Clocks Embossing folder.
So now with the DSP and the green CS embossed I still needed something to make the clock stand out so I pulled out my Cog Punch (one of my better purchases in punches).  The larger cogs were adhered to the base and the smaller ones were adhered to the clock front, which was lifted with dimensionals.  Still missing something and having no chain I decided to use butcher twine to make pulleys and adhered the smaller cogs to the ends.
Now that the outside was complete I decided to use the same colours and with the scraps that were left over I made a simple inside to the card.
I hope that you like what I have come up with.  Now hop on over to the Try Stampin website and see what the other great Designers have in store for you.  I know you will be pleasantly surprised.  Don't forget to upload your version of the sketch for all to see.

Thanks for stopping by.

Purple & Blue..a Butterfly for You!

So today's card has been combined with colour challenges over at Late Night Stampers challenge 209 which is a blue theme and then by adding just a touch of purple I was able to add it into another challenge over at Sketchy Colors.  This is the first time for Sketchy Colors.

The big thing about this post is that it is a recreation of a tutorial over at Stampin Fun & Friends, Sweet Sentiments.  Robbie Rubala has given us excellent instructions on making a spinner card.
Along with the card is a template and instructions on actually making a box with a heart embellishment on the top.  I changed it out to accommodate the butterfly from the card.

You will notice that the papers I used today were the same papers as I used for my challenge card yesterday, trying to use up scraps as I work.

In order to make the butterfly look more 3D I cut out three from the DSP and a 4th one from the blue CS that I used as a base.  Folding two of the butterflies in half and then gluing them to the base butterfly and the top butterfly.  Very easy to do and makes an impact on the total look.

I hope that you will take the time to join us at Stampin Fun and Friends, we still have the whole month of February left to play.

Thanks for stopping by.

SFF: You've Got Mail....

As mentioned yesterday Stampin Fun and Friends "Sweet Sentiments" is underway and our first sketch challenge is up.
http://api.ning.com/files/TdIQzJmQRtwskBtAO*v-X7GOEH3F517cUxbRDMIEic155o1TMnxT*w5uhe4oXp0v7jGlXI-GqTQiBOTp*CEN12QH7d1n0XdZ/TSTSketch63.jpg
I wanted to combine it with another challenge which would incorporate colour but the colours I had in mind didn't materialize so I just decided to go with my own colour combination.  I found a piece of DSP that I liked the colours in so that was my starting point.  Then I found the coordinating CS to with the purple and blue DSP.  Next came the stamp set.  I decided to go with Postage Due.

Using Whisper White as my card base I cut a piece of Marina Mist that was 1/8th" smaller.  Then using Concord Crush I punched out the trim piece and decided to put trim on both sides of the DSP.

Once I had the front done I stamped using Concord Crush the card base with the Postage Due set.  Once that was done I placed the piece of Marina Mist CS on top using dimensionals to raise it up, giving it a slight shadow box effect.  Stamped out my 2cent stamp and punched it out using the postage stamp punch, which was then adhered directly to the front piece.  I added 3 small gems to the upper left to balance the stamp out.

I was very happy with the end result.  Unfortunately the picture does not reflect the beauty of the true colours.

Hope you like what I have come up with.  You to can join Stampin Fun and Friends by clicking on the PayPal link to the right of my blog.  We still have lots in store for you.

Stampin Fun and Friends...Are You Ready?

Stampin Fun and Friends "Sweet Sentiments" is up and running.  We would love to have you join us.  Just click on the PayPal tab at the side of my blog to join in on the fun.

The first Sketch Challenge is up and ready for you to try it out, along with the first tutorial.  The first tutorial was provided by myself.  It gives complete instructions for a Double Wiper Card.
This card was a great one to make and I love the non-traditional Valentines colours.  It could even be used as an Anniversary card (which I plan to do).  You could make it a single wiper, but I wanted to suspend the floating hearts between the wipers, thus I ended up with a double wiper.

Want to see more.  You will have to join us, but if this hasn't encouraged you then look what else I have in store to entice you.....

Just a teaser!.....

Hope you like what I have for you and what is also in store for you.

Looking forward to seeing you join us.

Thanks for stopping by.

Time for Love

I have made several Valentine Cards but I can only show them once they have been revealed at Stampin Fun and Friends.  In the meantime here is a quick one that I put together once again following the sketch over at Less is More.

This was such a quick and easy card to make I must admit that I think this is one of my favourites.

Hope you "Love" what I have come up with.
